o What three things must align to walk in synchronization with someone?
1. Discuss how the revelation in Amos 3:3 applies to our walk with God. How does the Holy Spirit help us to keep our appointments with Him?
2. What is the difference between the appointments of Christ's first and second coming, according to Hebrews 9:28?
3. Psalm 91 talks about dwelling in the secret place of the Most High God. Discuss what it means to make God your habitation.
4. Why is it critical to understand that God has times and seasons for everything? Why does He sometimes delay His promise to us?
5. Why is it vital to understand that God judges the wicked at an appointed time, according to Psalm 75:2? Discuss God's reward system for the diligent and how we can strengthen ourselves during this time.
Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment?
—Amos 3:3 AMP
DISCUSSION:
We sometimes face warfare and all kinds of opposition, yet at other times, there is a divine delay, which we will discuss today. God does have appointments for us; however, sometimes they are delayed because He has certain times, seasons, and connections that He must establish. We need to understand what takes place behind the scenes.
WALKING IN SYNCHRONIZATION
The message in Amos 3:3 is a significant prophetic word for right now and a concept we must comprehend. It is time for all of us to hear and implement this revelation into our lives. Amos 3:3 asks if two people can walk together unless they have made an appointment. How can you even find each other without establishing a place and time? You must confirm the location, and then set a time to meet. After you work out the place and time to meet, some translations essentially say, "How can you stay in step with each other unless you agree to walk with each other in step?" So there's the idea of walking in sync.
For two people to walk in agreement, three things need to coordinate: You need to set a place, agree on a time, and then you have to walk in synchronization with each other. If you don't, then how can you be in agreement? You can't walk together if you're not in the same location. For example, you could be in another country and not establish where you're supposed to meet physically. Then, you must decide the particular time, since there are 24 hours in a day. Once you have those two factors straight and start walking, you must be able to stay in sync with each other, or you're really not walking together. This verse has so much truth that I could focus the entire teaching on it, but I also want to share some other scriptures with you.
o What three things must align to walk in synchronization with someone?
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.
—Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11 NLT
You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come.
—Psalm 102:13
The whole idea of appointments with God is that He has established a place for you to meet with Him and a season for His promises to manifest. You are not just randomly doing things down here; it may seem that way, but it's really not. There is a calendar for the children of God and a season for everything. You must consider that God establishes the times and seasons for your appointments, which means there could be a delay. You might be at the right location, yet God could be delaying His promise because the set time and season have not come. Once you arrive at your appointed place and it is time, then you must be able to keep in step with the Lord.
HABITATION IN THE SECRET PLACE
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!" Because you have made the Lord, [who is] my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent.
—Psalm 91:1–2, 9–10 AMP
The secret place mentioned in Psalm 91 is where you meet with God; it's actually a time and place, set by the Lord. So your appointment with Him is ultimately habitation. Psalm 91 does not refer to the person who visits God or simply has revelation, but the one who makes the Most High their dwelling place. Habitation is residing with the Lord.
But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
—1 Corinthians 2:9–10
The Spirit of the Lord has all kinds of promises in store for us, which haven't even entered our minds yet. Yet we must agree to walk with God, who sets the appointment for us. Once we are established and that time comes to pass, we need to be discipled. The need for mentorship is not being taught or emphasized enough. We all need the Lord to help us, and we must stay in step with Him. Walking with God is not just receiving the Lord as your Savior, being baptized, having communion, or prayer; it's also the Holy Spirit talking to you, guiding you step-by-step through your day. You must stay in synchronization with the Holy Spirit, keeping in step with Him.
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
—Galatians 5:16
Paul teaches us to walk in the Spirit, which means being in step or synchronization with the Holy Spirit. Walking with God is not a random occurrence. Many people might say they are walking with the Lord, yet they live from their soul, not their spirit. Very few people realize that there is a big difference. During my operation, when I was on the other side with Jesus, I was shocked at what I thought I knew, but didn't really know; I was deceived. To this day, it bothers me how deceived I was. I'm diligent in helping and mentoring people because I understand what it's like to struggle. I was embarrassed when faced with what I thought I was doing, but wasn't. Amos 3:3, walking in agreement with God, was one of those truths I felt I understood, but did not.
EAGERLY WAIT FOR THE LORD
So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
—Hebrews 9:28
Hebrews 9:28 says that Christ offered Himself up to bear the sins of many. So He literally gave Himself as a sacrifice for every human being, doing all He will ever do about sin.
